Our Soldier
James is getting ready to go to Afghanistan and I am not ready!! This is not what I wanted for him or me but it is what he chose. He is so proud to serve in the US Army! I am so proud of him!! I will miss all the fun phone conversations and texting!! BUT the good news is that there will be occasional Internet and mail!! I pray for his safety and all the men and women over there. I will miss you Son! My heart will be with you and constant prayers! I love you!

They are going back home to LA

It has been so long since I have written! I have promised myself I will do better. I have written on my blog so many times just as I was going to sleep or as I wake up but it just never seemed to get on paper.

It has been such a wonderful six weeks!! First James, Christina, Brayden and baby Bobby were here all together. I loved seeing them as a family and also spending some special time with my Son James!! James had to go back to Forte Polk in LA after a week but Christina and the boys got to stay an extra 5 weeks.

The time just went by so fast. And here we are today.....they are leaving.

I love them so much! It was fun getting to play and have fun with my grandson's and also having time with Christina. I was truly blessed with a wonderful new daughter.

I wish so much we all could live closer. Our family is the type that can live right by each other and have no issues.

We did get to go to Sacramento to see Wendy and the family while Christina was here. Our request was for Wendy to make us Fruit Tart and Sweet Tea. Wendy is the best cook but these treats are just the best. Amanda, Christina and I ate till we could not eat anymore.

All the little cousins had so much fun together. And "Surf Magic" was so much fun too.

We had 2 fun birthday parties for Brayden and Bobby at Christina's Mom' s and Dad's house. Swimming and more food and beautiful birthday cakes sooo fun!

We also had a day of scrap booking. Amanda, Wendy, Tina, Milissa, Christina and I worked and talked for hours while all the children swam and played. For lunch we all brought something we liked. Tina made a wonderful enchilada casserole, Amanda made her famous broccoli salad,Wendy brought 2 salads and rolls and I brought a strawberry pretzel salad. The children loved the ice cream best. Emme could not come because she just started her nursing program but we did bring Alex and Ella. I really do not know how much scrap booking got done but I do know a lot of fun, laughing and talking did happen.

Jamie was blessed while Christina was here and so the whole family got together one more time at the Oberst's house for that and dinner.

My goodness life is good!!!

All of the sister's had fun too. They went to LA and walked the "red carpet". They had a "come as you are" movie and dinner. Christina was shocked because they picked her up in their pj's and they wore theirs.

I turned little Brayden into the "marshmallow man". He now loves marshmallows and every time he sees me he asks for them.

Little Bobby got used to us and shared his sweetness and love!!

My heart is so full and yet empty...I will miss them so much!!! Now it will be another year before we see each other again. We will keep up with phone calls, email, My Space and mail.

I am so greatful to have all of this love in my life.

This family is yet another piece of me!

Kindergarten Graduation

Wednesday May 27, 2009

Darien graduated today. I know this is the first of many of his graduations.
Darien or as I call him, "Dare Bear", is 5 years old with cute red curly hair. He is so full of fun and excitement, everything is a party to him!! We tell him that he is the entertainment committee!
Being so full of energy made his challenge clear.
Well I watched him enter kindergarten and now today leave the class. So much more mature and in control. I love that he can now read me stories.
This little guy is my grandson and a very large piece of me.
